4 TYPES OF ADAB IN ISLAM

Us, the members of group 5 presented the topic on Quranic verses related to four different types of adab in Islam

Adab towards parents

{ ۞ وَقَضَىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعۡبُدُوۤا۟ إِلَّاۤ إِیَّاهُ وَبِٱلۡوَ ٰلِدَیۡنِ إِحۡسَـٰنًاۚ إِمَّا یَبۡلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ ٱلۡكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَاۤ أَوۡ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُل لَّهُمَاۤ أُفࣲّ وَلَا تَنۡهَرۡهُمَا وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوۡلࣰا كَرِیمࣰا }

Thy Lord hath decreed That ye worship none
but Him, And that ye be kind To parents. Whether
one Or both of them attain Old age in thy life, Say
not to them a word Of contempt, nor repel them,
But address them In terms of honour.

[Surah Al-Isrāʾ: 23]

- This verse highlights the obligation to treat parents with utmost respect and kindness,         even in moments of difficulty or old age.

Adab towards neighbours

{ ۞ وَٱعۡبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَلَا تُشۡرِكُوا۟ بِهِۦ شَیۡـࣰٔاۖ وَبِٱلۡوَ ٰلِدَیۡنِ إِحۡسَـٰنࣰا وَبِذِی ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَٱلۡیَتَـٰمَىٰ وَٱلۡمَسَـٰكِینِ وَٱلۡجَارِ ذِی ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَٱلۡجَارِ ٱلۡجُنُبِ وَٱلصَّاحِبِ بِٱلۡجَنۢبِ وَٱبۡنِ ٱلسَّبِیلِ وَمَا مَلَكَتۡ أَیۡمَـٰنُكُمۡۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا یُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ مُخۡتَالࣰا فَخُورًا }

Serve God and join not any partners with Him:
and do good to parents kinsfolk orphans those in
need neighbors who are near neighbors who are
strangers the companion by your side the way-farer
(ye meet) and what your right hands possess: for
God loveth not the arrogant the vainglorious;

[Surah An-Nisāʾ: 36]

- This verse emphasizes the importance of doing good not only to close relatives but also       to neighbors, both near and far. It underscores the significance of treating neighbors         with kindness and generosity as part of one's ethical and moral responsibilities.

Adab towards society

{ وَإِذۡ أَخَذۡنَا مِیثَـٰقَ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰۤءِیلَ لَا تَعۡبُدُونَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ وَبِٱلۡوَ ٰلِدَیۡنِ إِحۡسَانࣰا وَذِی ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَٱلۡیَتَـٰمَىٰ وَٱلۡمَسَـٰكِینِ وَقُولُوا۟ لِلنَّاسِ حُسۡنࣰا وَأَقِیمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّیۡتُمۡ إِلَّا قَلِیلࣰا مِّنكُمۡ وَأَنتُم مُّعۡرِضُونَ }

 And remember We took a covenant from the
children of Israel (to this effect): worship none but
God; treat with kindness your parents and kindred
and orphans and those in need; speak fair to the
people; be steadfast in prayer; and practice regular
charity. Then did ye turn back except a few among
you and ye backslide (even now).

[Surah Al-Baqarah: 83]

- This verse outlines various aspects of good conduct within a society, including treating   family, orphans, and the needy with kindness, speaking positively to people, and   fulfilling religious obligations. It emphasizes the importance of a just and compassionate society based on moral principles.

Adab as a student

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: The Prophet said:

Those who do not show mercy to our young ones and do not realize the right of our elders are not from us
